I swear, there is tonnes of interesting stuff to write about. I really just don't have the time to sit and compose anything intelligent. KEEP SEWING!! I have the major fittings all Sunday.
Go and check out my friend Matt's interview at Horror Reanimated. They are always up to cool stuff. Thanks so much for the shout out Matt!
The Match Factory is inspired by an old family story about an individual leaving the North ready to set the world on fire but always being drawn back, “Looking for more matches.”

Boom Town Adventures

I wish I had some snazzy links to send you to about this new project I got to help out on. Boom Town Adventures is a 'choose your own adventure' style documentary that is being done about Cobalt, ON.
Cobalt declared their entire town a historical site some years ago and really is working hard and breaking new ground on historical tourism.
I was called in to help dress the characters for the shoot. This is Bert Dewsbury, the intrepid real estate agent turned prospector. He's looking rather dapper if I do say myself.
So the concept is that you will be able to access this documentary online and make decisions for the people as you did in those great 'choose your own adventure' books of the 80's. I can't wait to see how the final project comes together.

My "Look"
A while back I put it out there that my wardrobe needed a little work. It still does, as someone who dresses other people I often look like a bit of a yard sale. I don't feel like I have to spend a million dollars or be the consumer extraordinaire to look good, but... that's another post. This post, well, I'm excited. I wanted to up the look a bit, I'm not sure this is what I was thinking....

Where Have I Been

Not your everyday book store for sure.... check it out. I could upload a tonne more great shots. Jose and Ian rocked the shoot of all of us, and everyone stepped up and found their inner model (though Carissa doesn't have a mean face in her anywhere!) Thanks so much guys.... you really did rock it out.
Watch to see pics like these up on my website www.matchfactory.ca soon.

Halloween is on it's way!!

I'm sure any costumer out there can identify with my absolute love of Halloween. I've been up to my eyeballs with wonderful black fabric as I am costuming the entire staff for a Fifth Year Anniversary party on Halloween at Chat Noir Books in Temiskaming Shores.
It's going to be fabulous darling... ;o) If you are in the area come on by for a visit.

Technical Issues
Oops.. I seem to be having technical issues. Lappy may have to visit the tech support lab.
In the mean time, the trees are pretty close to finished. They have been tucked away in the grove for a bit to mature while other things step to the top of the to do list.
Today I
-built a old lady puppet body (which got reworked but was way fun to do)
-tailored her the ugliest dress ever (pic to follow)
-tailored a gown for a skelton
-made various little things like dyed shirt, bow ties and opera scarves\
Over all it was fun build day. Pictures to follow when I get onto my own computer.

What's On the Table
Finally, I'm back to the sewing table. It feels good now that things are rolling again. The last couple of weeks I just accepted that all I could do was night shift. My body seems to have accepted the changes, so finishing work has commenced on the suit. Today, one blouse done.

What's on the Dress Form....

It's almost done! I'll post finish pics after the party tomorrow night. I made myself a fairy costume to wear to the Harry Potter book release party tomorrow night. Come on out to Chat Noir Books Friday night at midnight and you can see it in person! I'll be the lady in the wings.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood

So the talk last night was the degree to which we were going to get slammed by a storm. Seems it's all for naught at there's not sign of it on the horizon of the weather sites. Oh well, I'm still off to do errands which for me, oh small town dweller that I am, involves the best part of a day. Of course factor in a little socializing in there for balance.
The scanner thing isn't really working for me. I'm not really pleased with the scan of my mittens, the Hedera sock isn't all bad but this morning I tried some Jaywalkers. Nope, they don't really fit on the platen, the shaping won't lie flat, over all it turned some nice socks into some nasty looking stuff. So... I hereby declare that I will buy a camera. I'm not going to sit and wait for the cash to fall out of the sky for the ulitmate coolest camera, the little one will do for blog shots and web work for now.
So to keep things interesting, here is a small pic from the hard drive. This dress was destined to be Ms Scarlett although politics rendered it useless. Too bad, it's pretty. It's a pattern of my own and the lovelyest red taffeta.
Have a great day
