Flowers Flowers Everywhere

It is so grey and blah outside. I've been working to make my little flower projects into something useful AND pretty. Enter Flower Pins. These are broaches that you can use to decorate anything, your coat, purse, hat, dog. Whatever you can put a safety pin on you can put Flower Pins on. Check em out.

A little shameless self promotion here folks. ;o) If these don't interest you, do take the time to support the indie artist that does catch your eye. Shop local, shop indy.

Four Mondays....

There are four more mondays until Christmas. That's serious knitting and shopping time folks. What's your plan this year? Can I suggest this year that you think about where your shopping money is going? Check out these stats from 350.org

Stop by and check out what other people are doing on Buy Handmade. Take the pledge.

Or check out Etsy. I have a shop there but don't stick to just that. There are SO many cool things, I'm sure you can find something.

Cleaning House

I have too much stuff. What is getting to me right now is the clothing variety. Vintage, prototypes, experiments that weren't just right. So many one of a kind garments around here that have never been worn. Saving all of it is not an option at this point so I'm going to use my Etsy shop as a clearing house. There's a link on the right hand bar of my blog or for those of you in a reader, click HERE. My goal is to list one thing everyday. I'm cleaning out so things are going cheap... all sorts of sizes and flavours! Keep an eye, something might be just what you are looking for.

New Again

A friend of a friend retired from her full time retail based costume shop this year. She's going to continue working from home but she's scaling back and clearing things out. I was a lucky beneficiary.

One of the things I got was an oversized paste board box (totally cool on it's own), full of silk flowers that seem to have been destined for hats back in the their day.

Well, their day came again. This is the first thing I used them on. I think you are going to be seeing quite a few of these flowers in the next while. Check it out at my Etsy shop.

New Stuff

I'm enjoying making some new bags for a few reasons. They are like doodles for a sewer, what looks fun together, challenge your finishing skills and a great way to use up all those small bits of fabric that are just too good to throw away. Of course, even though I have a small bag problem of my own I can't keep all of these so they are all destined my Etsy shop. If there is anything you like, drop me an email and I'd be happy to discount you shipping as a bonus as a blog reader.

New Photos

When I was in Ottawa I got smeared up in some crazy grease paint and took some new pictures of my wigs for Etsy.

The pics turned out pretty well. I'm going to be able to use these for a lot of things.

I linked to Esty over in the side bar there.... check out the new pics.

Etsy

I haven't put much up about my Etsy shop lately. Mostly because I haven't had much time to work on it. Back to it though, it's September, time for a fresh start. Check it out.

Etsy and Me

I have been working to get some more things up on my Etsy site. One of the definite challenges is photo editing. I'm not very good at it but I'd like to think I'm getting better. Currently I'm using GIMP which seems to be a really decent open source software. (Down with microsft!)

First step, what to shoot. I had this waspie I made a while back to test out a pattern and it's prototypes like that which I intend to clear out of here. So I found the closest, cheapest, most available model and got myself dressed and cleaned up a bit.

Second step, figure out the timer. HA! At the time I only seemed to be able to set a 10 second delay. So I spent a while screwing around, hitting the button on the tripod and leaping back and trying to get stationary before the flash. Yeah... sure. Much leaping about being a goof ball, laughing my butt off. But finally I figured there's got to be a shot in there I can edit down to something. I had no intention of this shot really being about me but rather edited down to show the waspie.

Third step, download and laugh. One shot, I looked so stunned I laughed and laughed out loud at. So, not being particularily proud I sent it on to my friend Matt so he could laugh as well. Now this is Matt Ficner of the Creepy Puppet Project, so he is swamped with the fabulous response he's getting from the latest, Dusty Zombie.

Fourth, open mouth in amazement. A couple of hours later I checked my email to find me, 'touched up' and looking rather fab if I do say so myself. Fierce. I may just use this photo for everything....

Etsy!

So, I finally did it. I opened an Etsy shop. Etsy is a venue for people to sell their hand made goods. The quality of craftmanship that can be found on Etsy really is astounding. I grovel at the feet of some of the artists who's work I have oogled. I'll try and link to some of the fabulous stuff that is available.

However today, I would like to shamelessly promote myself. For my grand opening, I have listed three, one of a kind funky, fun wigs.

Have a look.

Or here.

I'll leave it at that for now.... but this won't be the last of this!

Sunset on Wendigo

Yep, been hidin' at the lake whenever possible. Me, a book and a beverage in my prospector's tent! mmmm.... quiet.....

I've been up to a million things, I'll try and get to them one by one but for me the most momental thing has been finally opening up my Etsy shop.

Did you get that link?

Check it out! I'm super excited.

New Knitting

This is the first wig of many I hope that will eventually become the stock for my Etsy shop. I have made a few of these, used and abused them and I believe that I can make them to a high enough quality now that I feel comfortable selling them. This one is called Pretty in Pink and is one of the simple, mostly acrylic wigs. I'll put up pics of others as I finish. Finish while still building the new chicken coop, redoing the master bedroom and working full time. This may take a while!
